VAT & Digital Advertising
If you are advertising through Google Ads in the UK and you are registered for VAT (Value Added Tax), you will need to pay VAT on your Google Ads spend. VAT is a tax that is applied to most goods and services in the UK, and businesses registered for VAT are required to charge VAT on their sales and pay it to the government.
To pay VAT on your Google Ads spend, you will need to provide your VAT registration number when you set up your account or add it to your account settings.
You can do this by…
- Signing in to your Google Ads account
- Click the Tools & Settings icon on the top right, then under Billing choose Settings
- Under your Payment Profile will be a section that highlights your tax information: if not already set, click the pencil icon and enter your VAT number
- Click Save
Google will then include VAT in your advertising costs. You can find more information on paying VAT on Google Ads in the UK on the Google Ads Help Centre by clicking HERE.
